Description

The Episode Response DSP Amplifier Driver provides a robust TCP/IP interface for managing Snap One’s high-performance Response amplifier series. By bringing advanced DSP control into the Crestron Home ecosystem, this driver simplifies the deployment of complex distributed audio systems while maintaining a premium user experience.

Advanced Audio & DSP Management:

  • Precision Volume Logic: The driver automatically polls the hardware for ‘Turn-On Volume’ and ‘Maximum Volume’ levels. It scales the UI volume slider to fit these ranges, preventing sudden audio spikes and protecting client speakers.

  • Source Routing: Assign any audio source to the amplifier inputs and map rooms to the outputs; the Crestron Home™ framework handles the switching logic automatically.

  • Integrated Gain Control: Fine-tune the input gain for every source to ensure consistent volume levels across different media players.

  • Discrete Commands: Access reliable power on/off and mute toggles for every zone with instant bi-directional feedback.

Technical Requirements:

  • Secure Connection: This integration requires valid login credentials to initiate the IP connection. Ensure you have the hardware’s username and password ready during setup.

  • Bi-Directional Feedback: The driver maintains a constant network connection to provide real-time status updates for all active zones.

Supported Models:

  • EA-RSP-2D-200 (2-Channel)

  • EA-RSP-8D-100 (8-Channel)

  • EA-RSP-12D-100 (12-Channel)

  • EA-RSP-16D-100 (16-Channel)

  • It is recommended that you save a configuration or golden configuration before installing any driver.

  • Crestron Home manages input loop-outs using virtual adapters. The adapters are placed in the Crestron Home configuration as a hub between the source and the devices. The physical source is landed on the adapter’s input, and the adapter outputs are landed on the device's input as needed. The most commonly used adapters are the Universal A/V Adapter and the Uncontrolled Generic A/V DA. They are shown under the "Other" category below "Drivers".

  • In general, most uses of the Output x Audio outputs is incorrect. If you are using them because you are looping inputs from one amp to another, then please see the previous FAQ entry.

  • This is due to a limitation of the hardware. When the unit powers on, it does not send the current volume level back to the driver. The way around this is to set a startup volume in Crestron Home. Setup a sequence triggered by monitoring the Media Zone On event. Go to a room that’s on an output of the amp, select Media Operation and add a Set Volume and set a volume level to match the startup volume in the amp. You’ll need to add some delay in front to allow for the amp to warm up before accepting commands.
