Description

The Carrier Infinity Crestron Home Driver provides a solid serial interface for managing one of the industry’s most advanced climate systems. By communicating directly with the Carrier SAM (System Access Module), this driver ensures local, low-latency control over your home’s heating and cooling without relying on an external cloud connection.

Comprehensive System Control:

  • Precision Mode Management: Switch between Off, Cool, Heat, and Auto modes directly from the Crestron Home UI.

  • Versatile Fan Speeds: Manage air circulation with support for High, Medium, Low, and Auto fan settings.

  • Bi-Directional Feedback: Receive real-time updates for room temperature and status changes made at the physical wall unit.

  • Automation & Sequences: Link your HVAC to Crestron Home sequences to automate setpoints and modes via schedules or Quick Actions.

Advanced Zone Logic: Each SAM module communicates with up to two handlers, with each handler supporting up to eight individual damper zones. The driver uses specific system and zone numbers to target every area of the home with precision.

Technical Requirements & Compatibility:

  • Hardware Needed: Requires a compatible Carrier SAM Module. (See our FAQ for the required SAM board model).

  • Thermostat Support: This driver supports both the newer Infinity Touch models and older legacy thermostats.

  • Installer Tip: When using Infinity Touch thermostats, ensure the unit remains on the main screen saver page to maintain active serial communication.

  • Extension Driver: A dedicated extension driver is available for managing single zones under the HVAC category for streamlined project organization.

Climate_Carrier_Infinity_Platform_Serial-Manual

  • It is recommended that you save a configuration or golden configuration before installing any driver.

  • This driver only works via RS-232 using the SAM module.

    • The standalone driver allows control of only one system and one zone. It offers a slightly simpler driver setup.
    • The platform driver allows controlling more than one handler and zone on a SAM.
    • The standalone driver is available on the HVAC menu on the Crestron Home Setup.

  • The SAM module needs enough time to process each command and send the requested feedback. This is a limitation of the speed of the SAM hardware.

    • Make sure the physical connections are good and correct.
    • Confirm the communication settings set in the driver.
    • If you have Infinity Touch thermostats, make sure the thermostat is on the home screen.
    • Confirm you are using a supported SAM module. If you have Infinity Touch thermostats, you need to have at least SAM model SYSTXCCSAM01, SYSTXCCRCT01 or SYSTXCCRWF01. If you have older SAM board model, paired with the Infinity Touch thermostat, than this will not work.
    • Uninstall the driver, reboot the CH processor, re-install the driver.

  • This depends on your configuration, in general, each SAM module can talk to two handlers and the processor would just need a single serial port to the SAM module. Please ask your HVAC contractor or contact Carrier for more details.
