Description

This Crestron Home driver provides a unified integration solution for smart locks by connecting directly to the Seam Cloud service. Instead of installing separate drivers for each manufacturer, a single driver enables reliable, bi-directional control of multiple smart lock brands across the Seam ecosystem. This simplifies deployment and allows Crestron Home systems to manage a wide range of supported devices through one integration point.

The driver supports native Crestron Home lock functionality, including Lock, Unlock, battery status reporting, Quick Actions, and Events. Once configured, it connects to the Seam service and automatically retrieves all locks associated with the account, making them available within the Crestron Home interface.

Compatible with manufacturers such as Yale, August, Schlage, Kwikset, among other, this universal driver allows integrators to manage diverse hardware environments through a single driver instance. Individual lock devices are automatically created under the Managed Platform directory in Crestron Home for organized control and monitoring.

Note: Due to the nature of this product, any and all sales are final, and NO refund will be issued. It is highly recommended and encouraged to use the built-in trial license to test the driver with your hardware setup before purchasing a full license. The trial period is 2 hours and can be extended another 2 hours by rebooting the processor.

Before calling, review the Driver help file and FAQ section for the Driver as our support is limited to questions about configuration and setup only. Any hardware configuration mentioned in the driver manual are the responsibility of the integrator. If you have hardware-related questions, such as wiring or addressing, we advise reaching out directly to the manufacturer for assistance. Additional support, beyond driver configuration, requires the purchase of service hours before guidance will be provided.

We reserve the right to make changes to this policy without notice.

Seam Door Lock - Manual

  • It is recommended that you save a configuration or golden configuration before installing any driver.

  • Yes. One of the primary advantages of this driver is its "Universal" capability. You can control a mix of supported manufacturers (e.g., Yale, August, and Schlage) within a single Seam account using one driver instance.

  • The Seam platform allows for a maximum of 3 devices on its free-usage tier. If your project requires more than three locks, you will need to upgrade your Seam account plan directly through their website.

  • To prevent overloading the Seam service and to ensure accurate feedback, the driver is programmed to request status feedback 15 seconds after a command is sent. During this time, the Crestron Home UI will show a "Transitioning" state: “Locking” or “Unlocking”.

  • No. Since this driver communicates with the Seam Cloud service, a stable and active internet connection is required at all times for the driver to function and receive status updates.

  • The Seam platform has a "Rate Limit" of 15 queries per minute. If you exceed this limit, the platform may temporarily throttle your commands. It can take 5 to 10 minutes for the system to normalize if this limit is reached.

  • After you enter your API Key and Workspace ID, the driver will discover your devices. You can find the individual lock tiles under the Managed Platform directory in the Crestron Home Setup app. Please be patient as it may take 30 seconds or more before the folder populates.

  • This is typically due to "Cloud Latency." The driver polls the Seam platform every 60 seconds, but Seam itself relies on the manufacturer's cloud service for updates. If the manufacturer’s cloud service is slow to report the lock's state, there may be a cumulative delay.

  • You must log in to your Seam Dashboard, navigate to the settings or developer section, and create a new API Key.

  • Yes. The driver includes a 2-hour trial license that activates as soon as the driver is added to the system. This allows you to verify connectivity and control with your Seam account before committing to a full license.

  • This typically happens if the Seam platform's rate limit has been exceeded. Sending more than 15 commands per minute can trigger a communication delay. If this occurs, please wait 5 to 10 minutes without sending new commands to allow the platform to stabilize and for the lock status to normalize in the UI.

  • Once Seam offers support for a manufacturer’s device, then this driver should be able to automatically take advantage of controlling it. Please direct all questions about when a particular brand will be supported to Seam.

    • This error typically occurs when the driver is updated using the "Check for driver update" button within the Crestron interface. Because of how Crestron manages paired driver instances. Crestron handles paired drivers in a specific way; sometimes a standard update doesn't correctly migrate the existing pairing data. A clean reinstall is the most reliable way to ensure the new driver version communicates properly with your hardware.
To resolve this, follow these steps:
    1. Confirm Device Status: Before making changes, log into the Seam platform and verify that the lock device is still active and online.
    2. Remove the Driver: Completely delete the current driver instance from your Crestron Home system.
    3. Perform a Clean Reinstall: Re-add the driver from scratch. This forces a fresh handshake between the processor and the Seam platform, clearing the error state.

    • If you have successfully added a new lock to the Seam platform but it is missing in the Managed Platforms directory in Crestron Home, you may need to manually reinstall the driver.
To add the new hardware, follow these steps:
    1. Verify the Lock in Seam: Ensure the lock is fully configured and visible in your Seam device list.
    2. Remove the Driver: Delete the lock Seam driver instance from your Crestron Home system.
    3. Re-add the Driver: Reinstall the driver.
