[Old driver] What is the Somfy IPtoSerial Driver?

This applies to the previous driver. This does not apply to the updated driver found in Drivers > Platform > Somfy > URTSI.

The SomfyIPtoSerial works in tandem with the Somfy URTSI II Crestron Home Driver. It helps to manage the communication with the URTSI II. Each instance of the SomfyIPtoSerial will manage the communication on a single COM Port. Each instance should have a unique TCP port. The SomfyIPtoSerial Driver is part of the Somfy URTSI II Crestron Home Driver package.

What are the most important troubleshooting steps?

1) The Crestron Home system loses control of the devices 30 minutes after reboot.

  • Please check the license.

2) There is no control of any channel in one or more of the  Somfy URTSI II units.

  • Check the Somfy URTSI II  power and antenna.
  • Check the wiring pinout. Pin 3 is TX, Pin 6 is RX, Pin 7 & 8 is ground.

  • Check that the rotary switch is set to 1.
  • Check that the URTSI II Address in the  Somfy URTSI II Crestron Home Driver is set to 01.
  • Check that there are no 2 SomfyIPtoSerial Drivers with the same TCP Port.
  • Check that the Somfy URTSI II Driver TCP port matches the TCP port of the SomfyIPtoSerial Driver controlling the COM port where the URTS II is connected.
  • Check that the correct port is used to communicate with the URTS-II. The RS-232 COM port is in the middle of the ports between the IR Senser input and the RS-485 input/output port. Please refer to the URTS-II Page 1. https://service.somfy.com/downloads/nam_v4/universalrts_interface_instructions.pdf

3) Can not control units on channel mark as 0 in the Somfy URTSI II  rotary switch.

  • The rotary switch 0 marker means channel 16. The value 00 is not a valid channel on the  Somfy URTSI II Crestron Home Driver.

4) After making adjustments to the driver in the Installer Settings, I can only control the first shade.

  • On iOS device, make sure you completely exit the Home app and than restart the Home app. On Crestron touchpanels, make sure you reboot the panel. This will force the panel to pull down the latest UI update from the processor.
